Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Upon arrival, you will be picked up from Kanombe international airport in Kigali by our ever on time driver and straight away head for a city tour starting from Nyamata memorial genocide site where over 5000 people were killed and buried during the 1994 genocide.
Visit the first house, the national museum, do some shopping and then afterwards drive to Ruhengeri and check-in.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking Volcanoes national park
After your breakfast, you will continue to Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi. After your breakfast, you will continue to the park headquarters for a briefing. Thereafter get into the tropical rain forest and search for the mountain gorillas starting from where they were the previous day until you find them. You may find them doing their daily chores of feeding their young ones, climbing trees and others just relaxing. Take your best photographs having switched off your flash. This whole exercise takes a maximum of 1 hour. You will then return to the park offices for your gorilla tracking certificate. Lunch will be at the lodge. In the afternoon, you may take a tour of the lake and also to the exceptional caves around the lake as you take remembrance photos with lots of fun poses near the caves. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Akagera National Park.
Wake up in the warm morning and enjoy your breakfast, Later jump into the safari land cruiser and transfer to Akagera National Park arrive in Kigali at around 11 am and continue to akagera reaching in the lunchtime hours. After lunch, you will go for an evening game drive with an experienced tour guide. Later in evening check-in the hotel for dinner & overnight
Day 4: Game drive & Boat Cruise
Wake up so early for your breakfast and proceed for a morning game drive to catch up with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts.
The game drive will reward you with chances to see a variety of elephants, buffaloes, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, orbit, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck among others.
Return to the Lodge for late breakfast and relax as we wait for lunch. Later this afternoon we may enjoy a boat ride on Lake Ihema, which will reward you with a large number of hippos, huge Nile crocodiles and about 525 bird species. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Kigali
Wake up very early in the morning, go for a morning game drive in the other section of the park and later return to the lodge to enjoy breakfast and proceed to Kigali arrive at lunch hours’ time and enjoy it.
In the afternoon you will go for a city tour to visit the local markets and do shopping in the local craft centers. Later be dropped at the airport or hotel of your choice to enjoy a flight back home.
